Blessing of the Animals

Each October in honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, students bring their pets to school for a special mass and blessing.  Dogs, cats, hamsters, horses,... all are welcome for the Blessing of the Animals!

Christmas at Coteau

Christmas at Coteau is a 3 day holiday shopping event for the whole community the first week of December each year!  Complete with over 80 regional merchants, artists, and vendors, thousands of holiday shoppers flock to our beautiful campus for shopping, exquisite gourmet luncheons, preview party, and gumbo cookoff! 

Congé

One of our favorite Sacred Heart traditions, Congé is a day of Goal IV community fun for the whole family!  With live music, games, rides, a fantastic silent auction, Easter Egg Hunt, and the best food in all of Acadiana, this spring time event is one you won't want to miss!

Father-Son Fish Frey

Each Fall, Berchmans fathers and sons gather for an outdoor fish fry on campus.  The boys show their dads around and introduce them to one of their favorite features of the Berchmans campus, the woods!

Running of the Boys

The Pinning is an event in which new students and faculty at Berchmans receive St. John Berchmans medals to commemorate their acceptance into the school community.  Following the pinning, individuals run the Berhcmans Loop while the community cheers them on.

Goûter

a French word meaning, "to taste". Goûter is a snack given to commemorate special occasions.

Graduation Under the Oaks

The culminating event for every ASH student, graduation under the oaks is the most reverent and anticipated event of the year.  Each senior, dressed in a matching white dress with fresh floral bouquet, shares a final mass and awards ceremony with her Sacred Heart sisters under the majestic oaks.  This ceremony marks their transition from student to alumna and is a seminal moment in the life of every Sacred Heart girl.

Liturgies

The celebration of mass as a school community is a treasured weekly event for our students, faculty, staff, and guests.   Special liturgies include the Mass of the Holy Spirit, Feast of Mater Admirabilis, Feast of St. Philippine Duchesne, Feast of St. Madeleine Sophie Barat. Other liturgies commemorate special events or occasions such as the Miracle at Grand Coteau, Black History Month, French Liturgy, Spanish Liturgy, May Crowning, First Communion celebration, etc.

Exploring the Treehouse and the Woods 

Ask any Berchmans boy about his favorite part of our campus, and undoubtedly, this will lead to a story about the woods.  Rubber boots are a part of the uniform for a good reason- these boys love to spend as much time as they can exploring the great outdoors.
